Grandfather Rights
What are grandfather rights?
Under Industry Accreditation, CSCS Cards were issued to people based on references from employers or other competent people who could certify the person needing the card was capable of doing the job.
How do grandfather rights affect CSCS cards?
Previously, individuals could obtain CSCS cards without formal qualifications due to the Industry Accreditation scheme, but this route is no longer available.
When did grandfather rights end for CSCS cards?
All Industry Accreditation (IA) cards issued from 1st January 2020 expired on 31st December 2024 and cannot be replaced using IA.
What do I need to do if I had grandfather rights?
If you hold a CSCS card through grandfather rights, you need to obtain the relevant NVQ to renew your card.

How long will it take to get my NVQ and CSCS card?
There’s no time limit to complete the qualification, it’s as fast or slow as you can get the evidence. We aim to have you complete within 10 weeks, however most complete much sooner with the guidance of our experienced assessors who are available via telephone, e-mail and WhatsApp throughout the process. Once you have your NVQ certificate you can apply for your CSCS card.
Can I pay the course fee in instalments?
Yes, we now offer Klarna at checkout. We also accept credit card payments.
Can I skip NVQ levels and go straight to a level I want?
Yes, if you have the experience. We will help you match the right qualification and level to your skills and experience.
Can I get a temporary card?
I’m dyslexic, can I still do the NVQ?
Yes, dyslexia won’t stop you from getting your NVQ as reading and writing isn’t necessary for this process. Your Assessor will consider your requirements and create an assessment plan that suits your needs.
What if there’s an NVQ I want that isn’t included on your website?
